Paint War | Alison & Jonathan
Jonathan was moving around his house, trying his best not to trip over all the boxes and wrapping paper. There were three days left until Christmas, and he was still woefully behind on sending his friends and family presents. Actually, he hadn’t even shopped until today. And mainly when he said he shopped, he more or less had fumbled around stores with no idea what he was doing. Jonathan was a lot of things, but an effective shopper was not one of them. He usually winded up somewhere deep in the most pointless aisle full of cleaning supplies or somewhere else that was no where near where he was supposed to be. It was a painful process, and had taken him nearly all yesterday to do. And yet he had barely made a dent in his list of things he was supposed to get. Oh well, he still had a few days left. So instead of panicking, he was going out to meet up with Alison for a painting lesson. Or as he liked to think about it, he was about to go into a paint war.
Deciding it was best if he didn’t wear anything he was too fond of, he pulled on a worn gray t-shirt and some jeans before grabbing his keys and heading for the door. With one hand on the doorknob, he hesitated. She had wanted him to bring that cat picture…and well, it had been a while since he had seen it. Fuck it, he decided, turning around and reentering his room. It took a few minutes for him to find it buried in some box in his closet, but he finally saw the colorful picture and grabbed it. Yup, still as horrible as ever. He grinned to himself, folding up the old drawing and pocketing it before starting the journey to the studio.
It didn’t take so long before he found the place and hurried inside, glad to be out of the cold. A few moments later he found Alison, sitting underneath the paintings like she said she would be. With a grin Jonathan headed over to his new friend. “You ready to toss some paint around?” He asked once he stood in front of her, eyes sparkling mischievously.

Dude! I wanna see it. You didn’t burn it, did you? I swear, I will hit you…on the head. Yes! Come whenever. I’ll be sitting under a bunch of paintings, waiting for some company. Hey, your football playerness might draw some people in. I joke. Psh, I’m not that needy.

Yes, really. I’m forever scarred by it. The picture? I hid it away where no one can find it. I don’t think it’ll ever see the light of day again. But alright, I’m hooked - I’ll go keep you company and fling some paint at you. I can’t say no to that. I’ll be there in a little bit, if that’s cool?

No way! Oh my god. Really? That is the funniest thing I’ve ever heard. Okay, maybe you do suck. But I’m Alison Vernon, I can fix anyone with great ease. Trust me, I’ll fix you. But if you do change your mind, come by the studio. I’m so unloved that I’m free today. I guarantee you can throw paint at me.
I’m glad you’re finding humor in the most traumatic experience of my life. I mean, that cat picture has haunted me for years and years now. I will never get over it. Ever. But I think I might actually take you up on that offer. Who can say no to some good old fashioned paint tossing, after all?

Exactly! Art isn’t as easy as it looks, so you can’t say anything! You can’t draw? Bullshit. Everyone can draw, it just takes practice. I give classes! I could always give you one if you wanted. I promise we’ll be able to throw paint around after.
No, no I really can’t draw. So that’s nice and all, but I think I’m an exception. I remember my class once spent a good chunk of the period trying to figure out if my drawing was a burning house or a tree…it was a cat, Alison. I had drawn a cat and they couldn’t tell. And while the class part doesn’t exactly sound fun, the paint throwing part is tempting…

Merh. Famous people don’t seem to make me feel any different towards them. Oh me? Well, personally, I think it’s far more interesting than throwing a ball around. I’m joking but yeah, I’m an artist.
That’s good to hear. And well, I would say something about art being easy, but I can barely draw a stick person so I don’t think I’m allowed to talk. All I know about painting is things I learned back in 5th grade, which was mainly just me tossing around paint when the teacher wasn’t looking.
